How this is calculated
- Thickness is solved from steady-state conduction so the outer surface reaches your target temperature: Thickness = k × (Operating Temp − Surface Temp) / (h × (Surface Temp − Ambient Temp)), then rounded up to the nearest 25mm commercial thickness.
- Typical thermal conductivity (k) values used: Glass Wool 0.035 W/m·K, Ceramic Fiber Wool 0.08 W/m·K, Ceramic Fiber Board 0.09 W/m·K.
- Surface film coefficient (h): 8 W/m²·K indoor / still air, 20 W/m²·K outdoor / windy.
- Pipe and duct surfaces are approximated as an equivalent flat area for this estimate — accurate for budgeting and RFQ purposes, not a substitute for a detailed engineering calculation on critical process lines.
- Auto material selection: below 250°C → Glass Wool, 250–650°C → Ceramic Fiber Wool, above 650°C → Ceramic Fiber Board.
- Glass Wool and Ceramic Fiber Wool are only supplied as rolls in 25mm or 50mm thickness — other thicknesses are built by stacking layers, so the roll count above already accounts for that. Ceramic Fiber Board is a rigid panel product, not a roll — contact us for exact panel sizing.
