Overview

The WIKA 232.50 is a liquid-filled, all-stainless-steel Bourdon-tube pressure gauge built for exactly the conditions that destroy ordinary dry gauges: high dynamic pressure loads, vibration and pulsation, and aggressive media or atmospheres. The liquid filling is the key feature — it damps needle flutter so the reading stays legible on a shaking pump or compressor line, and it lubricates the movement so the gauge lasts far longer under continuous vibration than a dry gauge would.

The full stainless-steel case and wetted parts are what let it handle aggressive service. It is suited to gaseous and liquid media that are not highly viscous or crystallising, and it stands up to corrosive ambient environments — salt air, chemical plants, wash-down areas — that would rust a mild-steel gauge. That combination of vibration resistance and corrosion resistance is why the 232.50 is a workhorse across process industry.

It is offered in nominal sizes of 63 mm and 100 mm — 63 mm for panel and point-of-use mounting where space is tight, 100 mm where the dial has to be read from a distance. Scale ranges run from vacuum up to 400 bar / 6000 psi, covering everything from low-pressure gas to high-pressure hydraulic and process lines.

As with any pressure gauge, selecting the right range matters: for the best accuracy and gauge life, the normal working pressure should sit in the middle third of the scale, so the pointer is neither cramped at the bottom nor pinned near full scale. Tell us the working pressure, the medium, the connection size and whether you need bottom or back entry, and we will specify the correct range and configuration.

Applications

Where a gauge has to stay readable and survive on vibrating, aggressive, high-pressure service.

Chemical & Petrochemical Plants The stainless construction handles aggressive media and corrosive plant atmospheres, and the liquid filling keeps the reading steady on pumps and reciprocating equipment.
Power Stations Reliable pressure indication on feedwater, fuel and auxiliary systems where vibration and continuous duty would wear out a dry gauge.
Mining & Heavy Plant Rugged, vibration-damped indication on hydraulic and process equipment in harsh, dusty, high-vibration environments.
Machine Building & Hydraulics High-pressure hydraulic and pneumatic circuits up to 400 bar / 6000 psi, where the liquid fill protects the movement from pulsation damage.
Environmental & Water Technology Corrosion-resistant indication on dosing, filtration and treatment systems exposed to chemicals and wet, aggressive ambience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the gauge liquid-filled?

The liquid (usually glycerine) damps the pointer so it does not flutter on a vibrating or pulsating line, keeping the reading legible — and it lubricates the internal movement, so the gauge lasts far longer under vibration than a dry gauge. On any pump, compressor or hydraulic line, liquid-filled is the right choice.

What is the maximum pressure?

Scale ranges go up to 400 bar / 6000 psi, and down to vacuum. For the best accuracy and longest life, pick a range where your normal working pressure sits around the middle of the scale.

Which size should I choose — 63 mm or 100 mm?

63 mm suits panel mounting and tight point-of-use locations; 100 mm is easier to read from a distance on plant and skids. Both are available in the 232.50.

Can it be used with aggressive or corrosive media?

Yes — the stainless case and wetted parts suit gaseous and liquid aggressive media, provided the medium is not highly viscous or crystallising, and it withstands corrosive ambient atmospheres. For clogging or crystallising media, a diaphragm seal is usually added.

How do I pick the right range?

Choose a full-scale range roughly 1.5–2× your normal working pressure, so the pointer reads in the middle third of the dial. That gives the best accuracy and protects the movement from over-range spikes.
