Mica Packing is a non-asbestos braided packing reinforced with a fine stainless-steel wire insertion, giving exceptional strength, heat resistance and abrasion resistance. It is used in steel and rolling mills, notably for polishing iron and steel bars.
The stainless-steel reinforcement lets it withstand high temperatures around 550°C and heavy mechanical duty that would destroy ordinary soft packings.
