Cotton Grease Packing is braided from cotton fibre and impregnated with grease and lubricant, giving a soft, easily-seated seal for low-pressure water and general service. It is an inexpensive, readily-available utility packing.
It is rated to around 100°C across pH 6–8 at shaft speeds to about 8 m/s, suited to water pumps, sluice valves and general plant equipment.
